Real Club de Golf Guadalmina – South Course

I selected this shot not because of the quality of the course, but because of the circumstances that surrounded the shoot. When I arrived at the signature hole of the South Course at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina in southern Spain, an officious greenkeeper told me I wasn’t allowed to photograph the course despite being a media guest and gaining permission the previous day. I capitulated, but grabbed this shot just before we teed off. The morning light was just too good. Using a wide-angle lens with a circular polarizer filter, I wanted to capture the approach to the green set off by the high clouds. It was a bit rushed and it would have been good to explore some different angles, but I was glad I sneaked this one in.
