Royal Troon

To me, this image encompasses Royal Troon, and more critically, it does it without featuring the Postage Stamp. It can be challenging to shoot a course, venue or property which is well-known for a special feature or view. After all there is an unwritten rule that the photographer must feature it in the shoot while creating something new or unique. While I follow this rule to the letter, I also like to find other spots to rival the established best seller and, to me, this shot does just that. You have the fantastic undulating fairway of the 13th hole leading to a beautiful links green. In the background you can see a silhouette of Arran and the rest of Royal Troon’s stunning linksland. And the dramatic evening light also helps.
