Royal Troon

To me, this image encompasses Royal Troon, and more critically, it does it without featuring the Postage Stamp. It can be challenging to shoot a course, venue or property which is well-known for a special feature or view. After all there is an unwritten rule that the photographer must feature it in the shoot while creating something new or unique. While I follow this rule to the letter, I also like to find other spots to rival the established best seller and, to me, this shot does just that. You have the fantastic undulating fairway of the 13^th hole leading to a beautiful links green. In the background you can see a silhouette of Arran and the rest of Royal Troon’s stunning linksland. And the dramatic evening light also helps.
