Swilcan Bridge – St Andrews

This image formed part of a portfolio shoot for a charity in St Andrews. The brief called for a “classic shot over the Swilcan Bridge”. I’m not ashamed to say that I have taken this shot before. It is iconic and instantly recognisable. For me, however, I never tire of this view and the challenge of capturing it in the best possible light. In this case, shooting into the light gave me the opportunity to create added drama. Shooting this way allows you to capture a moment and an atmosphere. In particular, I liked how the ripples in the fairway were full of colour and contrast while the Swlican Bridge and R&A clubhouse remained in shadow.
