Background
“This is the view we enjoy from our home. It is incredibly special. In this picture, I wanted to use the lines in the field to direct the viewer’s eye towards the village of Falkland. It was a bright, sunny morning and I wanted to capture the light before the sun reached too high in the sky. I needed to strike a balance between ensuring the buildings were properly lit and utilising the lowest possible angle of the sun. Another reason I opted for this composition was to feature the chimney on the left-hand side which has been an integral part of Falkland for decades. It has now been demolished which adds to the significance of this image.”
