Open Studios 2017
I last took part Open Studios North Fife eight years ago. It was an interesting experience, a lot of planning and effort, and the first time I really let the public see my work. I had done a couple of exhibitions previously and of course my work had appeared in magazines, but this was different. This was an opportunity to listen to what people had to say about how I saw the world. In many ways, it was terrifying and exciting all at the same time.
Fortunately, people came and I sold a number of framed prints, but my gallery wasn’t the most polished. In fact, I displayed my work in our garage which meant standing out in the cold for three days straight with the doors wide open so people could see that something was going on. The people came and they were kind and I took a lot from it.
That was then and this is now. Eight years later, I have decided to set up my stall again, although this time we have chosen a more civilised, indoor approach. I am excited about the event and am looking forward to showing my work, which will have a local flavour with scenes many from the Howe of Fife will recognise.
In the coming weeks I will be showcasing some of these images and the associated prints which I have created especially for Open Studios. There will be an opportunity to pre-order these in fine art, mounted or framed options and there will be exclusive offers, so stayed tuned!
